Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid solves the dryness and aging of the vaginal mucous membranes

Female genitals are sensitive to the number of years, especially after menopause. The decline in estrogen production weakens the vaginal mucosa, which dries out, weakens and loses its suppleness and elasticity.

These physiological changes can induce discomfort and degrade women's daily quality of life.

For example, discomfort due to vaginal dryness, pain in the vulva or during coitus, repeated infections, etc.

Injection of hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the mucosa to hydrate the tissues. The product also acts on the cells that make up the vulvo-vaginal mucosa by mechanical pressure, which promotes their activity and the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers.

The effect is immediate and lasts at least 6 months.

After this intervention which preserves femininity, well-being is quickly felt in all women suffering from pain related to vulvovaginal dryness.

Procedure

A simple local anesthetic can be performed before each injection, which is generally performed at the vulvar level and at the entrance to the vagina. Dr. Desouches will use a very fine needle allowing him to inject the product superficially, under the mucosa to be rehydrated.

No risk of injury is to be feared, the procedure lasts approximately 20 minutes.

The initial consultation

The initial consultation is an opportunity to examine the vagina, discuss the discomfort caused and explain the expected results. It allows you to look for situations or antecedents that may require rules of caution such as:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding woman.
  • Areas presenting inflammatory and/or infectious clinical signs of viral origin (eg: Papilloma, Herpes), bacterial, fungal (eg: mycosis) and/or in patients undergoing treatment for these pathologies.
  • Patient with known hypersensitivity to one of the components (hyaluronic acid).

Complications

As with any injection of hyaluronic acid, certain reactions may occur such as swelling, hematoma, itching, tenderness at the injection site, which generally resolves within a few days.

Post-operative follow-up

The postoperative course is generally painless. Edema may appear and usually takes between 3 and 5 days to subside.

After an injection of hyaluronic acid the patient must observe sexual abstinence for five days.
