Each muscle in the body has a specific shape. This is due to a very thin, but extremely tough, layer of tissue called the fascia. Subfascial breast augmentation uses this layer and uses it to protect and support the implant, without removing muscle attachments from the ribs.
Often, implants placed under the muscle initially appear too “high” and may take some time to settle into their final position. Another advantage of the subfascial approach is that the implants are immediately placed in their ideal position.
